1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, avoiding bleach or harsh chemicals to preserve its colours.
   • Machine Wash: Opt for a gentle cycle with cold water if machine washing is necessary. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent damage.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can weaken the fabric or cause shrinkage.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry place. This helps prevent mould and moisture damage.
3. Folding the Oman Flag:
   • Begin by laying the flag on a clean, flat surface with the emblem side facing up. Ensure the fabric is smoothed out to avoid creases.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, bringing the bottom edge (green stripe) up to align with the top edge (white stripe), ensuring the emblem remains visible.
   • Repeat the lengthwise fold, aligning the edges carefully to maintain a neat and even shape.
   • Starting from the end opposite the emblem, fold the flag into equal sections, working toward the emblem to preserve its visibility and significance.
   • Once folded, secure the flag gently, ensuring it is compact and free of wrinkles, ready for storage or ceremonial presentation.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp edges or rough surfaces that could cause tears.

• Raising the Flag
  • Begin the process with the utmost respect. Ensure the flag is properly folded before attaching it to the flagpole.
  • Using the Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops to the halyard hooks securely. Ensure the sister clips are fastened to prevent slippage during hoisting.
  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the pole smoothly through the sleeve, ensuring the flag is fully extended and the emblem is correctly aligned.
  • Hoist the flag briskly to the top of the pole to signify pride and respect for the nation.
• Displaying the Flag
  • When displayed horizontally, ensure the emblem is in the upper left corner, as viewed from the front.
  • Avoid letting the flag touch the ground or any other surface. If displayed with other flags, the Oman flag should always be in a position of prominence, such as the centre or at a higher elevation.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast
  • To signify mourning, first raise the flag briskly to the top of the pole, then lower it slowly to the half-mast position.
  • The flag should rest approximately one-third of the pole’s height from the top.
  • When removing the flag, raise it to the top again briefly before lowering it completely.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset
  • The flag should be raised after sunrise and taken down before sunset.
  • If flown at night, ensure the flag is illuminated with appropriate lighting.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag during inclement weather, such as heavy rain or strong winds, to prevent damage.
