1. Cleaning

   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle with cold water and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to help prevent damage.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may weaken the fabric or cause shrinkage.
2. Storage
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry place to help prevent mould and moisture damage.
3. Folding the Oman Flag
   • Lay the flag on a clean, flat surface with the emblem side facing up and smooth the fabric to minimise creases.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, bringing the bottom green stripe up to align with the top white stripe while keeping the emblem visible.
   • Repeat the lengthwise fold, carefully aligning the edges to maintain a neat and even shape.
   • Starting from the end opposite the emblem, fold the flag into equal sections and work towards the emblem.
   • Once folded, secure the flag gently and store it in a clean, dry location.

Flying the Oman Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flag is properly folded before attaching it to the flagpole.
  • Using the Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops to the halyard hooks securely and fasten the sister clips before hoisting.
  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the pole smoothly through the sleeve and ensure the flag is fully extended with the emblem correctly aligned.
  • Hoist the flag briskly to the top of the pole.
• Displaying the Flag
  • When displayed horizontally, ensure the emblem is positioned in the upper left corner as viewed from the front.
  • Avoid allowing the flag to touch the ground or other surfaces. When displayed with other flags, position the Oman flag appropriately and respectfully.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag briskly to the top of the pole before slowly lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Position the flag approximately one-third of the pole's height from the top.
  • Before removing the flag, briefly raise it to the top and then lower it completely.
• Sunrise and Sunset
  • Raise the flag after sunrise and take it down before sunset.
