Republic of the Congo Flag Care Instructions

Follow these care instructions to help maintain your flag’s appearance and condition.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle washing: Wash the flag using cold water and a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that may weaken or fade the fabric.
   • Machine washing: Use a gentle cycle and place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag to help protect it from snags.
   • Air drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Do not tumble dry.
2. Storage
   • Make sure the flag is completely dry before storing it.
   • Keep it in a cool, dry location away from damp or humid areas.
3. Folding the Republic of the Congo Flag
   • Place the flag on a clean, flat surface with the front side facing down.
   • Smooth the fabric so it lies flat.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise in half, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge.
   • Fold it lengthwise again to form a long, narrow strip.
   • Starting from the fly end, fold one corner over to form a triangle.
   • Continue folding the strip into neat triangles toward the hoist end.
   • Tuck any remaining fabric into the final fold.

Flying the Republic of the Congo Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • For a Header with Loops finish, fasten the sister clips securely to the halyard. For a Vertical Sleeve finish, slide the pole through the sleeve and secure the display at the base.
  • Check that the flag is firmly attached and that the halyard or rope is free from tangles.
  • Raise the flag smoothly without allowing it to touch the ground.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag in a visible position where it can hang or move freely.
  • The diagonal yellow stripe should run from the lower hoist side to the upper fly side, with green at the upper hoist and red at the lower fly.
  • When displayed with other national flags, position it consistently and respectfully with the other flags.
  • For indoor displays, hang the flag neatly and avoid contact with floors, walls or furniture where possible.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Before taking it down, raise it fully again and then lower it carefully.

  • Remove the flag from display when it becomes excessively worn, torn or faded.
  • Dispose of it discreetly and respectfully.
