To help maintain the appearance and longevity of your Knitted Polyester Somalia Flag, follow these care recommendations.
Cleaning
- Hand Wash Preferred: Clean with a mild detergent to help preserve the fabric and colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Machine Washing: If required, use a gentle cold-water cycle and place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag.
- Air Dry: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
Storage
- Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Folding the Somalia Flag
- Lay the flag flat with the blue field and white star facing upward.
- Fold the flag in half lengthwise, then fold it lengthwise again to form a narrow strip.
- Starting from the hoist side, fold into neat triangular sections toward the fly end.
- Tuck the remaining fabric into the final fold to secure it.
- Store the folded flag in a protective cover or flat storage area.
Handling
- Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive surfaces.
- Ensure the flag is securely attached before display.
- For longer service life, remove the flag during severe weather or when not in use.

Flying the Somalia Flag
Raising the Flag
- Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops to the halyard using the supplied sister clips.
- Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve over a compatible flagpole and secure the flag to prevent movement.
- Raise the flag smoothly so it flies freely without tangles.
Displaying the Flag
- Display the Somalia flag with the blue field and white star correctly orientated.
- When flown with other flags, position it at the same height or in the place of honour where appropriate.
- When displayed on a wall, ensure the design remains upright.
Half-Mast Display
- Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to half-mast.
- When lowering the flag, first return it to full mast before bringing it down.
Daily Flag Etiquette
- Raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset unless it is properly illuminated overnight.
- Do not allow the flag to touch the ground.
Weather Conditions
