To maintain the flag's vibrant colours and ensure its long-lasting quality, please follow these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Always use a mild detergent to clean your flag, as harsh chemicals or bleach may cause fading.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying as excessive heat may shrink or damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Completely dry the flag before storing it. Store the flag in a cool, dry place to prevent any moisture damage.
3. Folding the Ukraine Flag:
   • Start by laying the flag flat, making sure the blue section is on top and aligned with the yellow section.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the blue section over the yellow, so both sides are aligned evenly.
   • Next, fold the flag again lengthwise, keeping the proportions intact, with the blue section still on top.
   • Continue folding the flag in small sections, making sure each fold is neat and precise, preserving the flag’s shape.
   • For storage, fold the flag into a rectangular shape, smoothing the folds and avoid creating any sharp creases that could damage the fabric.
   • Always handle the flag gently to maintain its fabric integrity, particularly along the edges.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp edges or rough surfaces that could cause damage.
   • Secure Installation: Securely attach the flag when displayed to avoid unnecessary strain on the fabric.
   • Minimise Exposure: If possible, take the flag down during extreme weather conditions or overnight to preserve its condition.
5. Repairs:

Flying the Ukraine Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Use a secure and sturdy flagpole to allow the flag to fly proudly and without obstruction.
  • Using the Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops at the top of the flag to the flagpole using clips or ropes, holding it securely for proper display.
  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s side pocket (vertical sleeve) onto the flagpole, positioning the flag correctly with the blue section at the top.
  • Raise the flag with care, ensuring it is fully unfurled and free of wrinkles.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • When flown on a flagpole, raise the flag high enough to be clearly visible and respected.
  • Never allow the flag to touch the ground, as it is a symbol of national pride.
  • If the flag is displayed alongside other flags, the Ukraine flag should be at the same height or, if on separate poles, that it is given equal prominence.
  • The blue section of the flag should always be at the top when displayed horizontally. If the flag is being flown vertically, the blue section should be positioned to the left.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, raise the flag to the peak of the flagpole first, then lower it to the halfway point.
  • This is typically done to mark periods of mourning or to pay respects.
  • When the mourning period ends, the flag should be raised back to full height, symbolising the return of normalcy.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise, and it should be taken down at sunset.
  • If the flag is illuminated at night, it may be left up. Otherwise, it should be respectfully lowered as the sun sets, making sure it is never left flying after dark unless properly lit.
• Weather Conditions:
  • It is advised to lower the flag in harsh weather conditions, such as during heavy rain, strong winds, or storms, to prevent damage.
  • If flying the flag outdoors, make sure it is made of durable, weather-resistant material to withstand various outdoor elements.
  • In particularly harsh conditions, it may be best to store the flag temporarily to protect it from damage.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag is no longer in a condition that reflects the respect it deserves, it should be retired in a dignified manner.
  • The flag should be carefully folded and either disposed of through a ceremonial burning or sent to an official organisation that can properly retire it.
  • Never dispose of the flag in a casual manner, as it is a symbol of national pride and should be treated with the utmost respect.
